26 June 2026The people of Drekeniwai Village and the wider Navatu District in Cakaudrove welcomed the opening of the *DREXX Kava Storage Facility* on Friday, 26 June 2026, established with support from the *iTaukei Business Support Fund (TBSF)*.
The facility was officially opened by the *Provincial Administrator Cakaudrove, Mr. Jovesa Naqarikau*, who attended as the Chief Guest. In his remarks, Mr. Naqarikau highlighted that with the recent National Budget announcement, the future looks brighter for entrepreneurs and rural communities seeking to expand their businesses and contribute to Fiji’s economic growth.
Owned and operated by *Mr. Laisa Ramacake, the facility represents an investment of approximately *$10,000** and has been operating successfully for the past two years. Bringing markets closer to rural communities is a welcomed development for the people of Drekeniwai and the Navatu District, providing easier access to markets, reducing transportation challenges, and creating greater economic opportunities for local farmers.
Mr. Ramacake shared that he plans to further expand DREXX Kava’s operations by venturing into the export market, with the newly opened storage facility serving as the foundation and starting block for this next phase of business growth.
The opening of the storage facility marks another milestone in supporting rural entrepreneurship and strengthening the kava value chain in Cakaudrove. Through the *iTaukei Business Support Fund*, the iTaukei Affairs Board remains committed to empowering iTaukei individuals and communities through sustainable business initiatives that enhance livelihoods and promote economic resilience.
