Selavo Investment
Selavo Investment was established in 2006 and is managed by Ms. Susana Yalikanacea of Tarakua Village, Cicia Island. The enterprise is a locally owned iTaukei business focused on the production and promotion of traditional and organic products sourced from Cicia.
The company’s product range includes Dilo Oil, Magimagi, Taube Ni Marama, Gafigafi, and Virgin Coconut Oil. These products are derived using traditional knowledge and sustainable practices, aligned with the organic principles upheld by the island of Cicia, which is proudly recognized as the first Organic Island in the Pacific.
In previous years, Selavo Investment engaged with companies based in Suva to market and distribute its products. However, these arrangements proved unsustainable due to high commissions and intermediary charges, which significantly reduced returns to the producer. As a result, the business has primarily relied on direct sales through social media platforms, particularly Facebook, to reach customers.
The core objective of Selavo Investment is to promote and preserve Cicia-branded organic products, while ensuring fair returns to producers and contributing to sustainable livelihoods within the community. The business also plays an important social role by providing employment opportunities for youth groups and individuals across villages in Cicia, thereby supporting income generation and community development.
Selavo Investment sincerely acknowledges and appreciates the initiative by the iTaukei Affairs Board (ITAB) and its Commercial Unit to promote iTaukei products through the official ITAB online platform. The opportunity to advertise and sell Selavo Investment products through this website is highly valued, as it provides direct access to regional and international markets without reliance on intermediaries.
This platform is expected to significantly enhance product visibility, expand market reach globally, and contribute positively to the business’s sustainability. Ultimately, this initiative will support improved income generation, strengthen everyday livelihoods for the people of Cicia, and reinforce the promotion of authentic iTaukei and organic products to the world.
